John Paul Lucas has spent more than thirty years studying, teaching and practicing architecture, first being licensed in 1976. His residential and community-oriented projects have received recognition for design excellence from the profession including eight American Institute of Architects awards.
Mr. Lucas received his architecture education at the University of Maryland (B.ARCH 1972), the North Carolina State University (M.ARCH 1975) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (PhD program 1985-87). He has held faculty appointments in five accredited architecture programs including tenured full Professor of Architecture at the Pennsylvania State University where he received a Faculty Scholar Award in 1992.
John Lucas Architect has been licensed to practice in Maryland (1976), North Carolina (1980) and Pennsylvania (1989). He received National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) certification in 1979 and held American Institute of Architects (AIA) membership for more than twenty-five years.
Susan Blake Lucas holds a PhD. in Sociology and is a former Assistant Dean in the College of Information Science and Technology at the Pennsylvania State University. She has extensive expertise in personal interviewing and research, helping each client identify the most pressing needs, preferences and parameters critical to project success.
Dr. Lucas has both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University and earned her PhD. at the Pennsylvania State University in 1988. In 1997 she received a prestigious university selection as Administrative Fellow/CIC (Council of Institutional Cooperation). Dr. Lucas developed broad experience in a variety of professional roles including Associate Director of Administration and Planning and as Marketing Research Associate while at Penn State. She has brought these skills to this architecture firm and is responsible for office management and ongoing client dialogue. Dr. Lucas also has worked within the health-care industry and has studied questions regarding aging and the living environment.
